Opportunistic Ecologies: A Community Farm for Bacton Terminal

This project envisions a possible optimistic future for the site of Bacton Gas Terminal that aims to reconsider the relationship that we have with landscapes, with local ecologies and with food. An alternative model of agriculture is proposed that will allow the community of Bacton to regain ownership over this site. Through a gradual process of rewilding and remediation a productive landscape emerges that challenges established farming practices. Meanwhile the adaptive re-use of industrial sheds gives way to unexpected and delightful ecologies. The proposal provides a model for the recuperation of an industrial landscapes that is at once optimistic and pragmatic. It is a celebration of the resilience of nature, and an example of how we humans can facilitate and enjoy that resilience.
